Thanks for taking the time to go over every single aspect of the drones. I've seen so many "reviews" which just say one is better than the other with some general assumptions so I'm glad to find one so in depth.
This video is awesome! Your review goes right along with the research I have been doing to determine which drone would best fit our needs for what we wish to do with it! Thank you so much and Good Morning from Texas!
Appreciate the comparison of the the three smaller drones. Have been toying with the idea of getting the Mini, but after your review, think I'll wait and see what the updates to the firmware will be in the future. Nice presentation of the information. Was impressed with the Air's photo and video quality.
Just got a Spark on eBay for $140; was originally going to wait and get a Mini for $200-250, but $140 was too good to pass up. I also really wanted active tracking (and object avoidance, even if it's primitive), so that's a dub.
dunno if anyone cares but if you're bored like me atm then you can stream all of the new series on Instaflixxer. Been streaming with my brother during the lockdown =)
Great video and great comparison 👍 Having both the mavic air and mini.... Don't get me wrong, I love the air but even though the specs are better on paper I find myself reaching for the mini more often.
I would mention that the mini does have active tracking but only in quick shot mode. There is a way of setting exposure manually on the mini. Use histogram and adjust comp exposure up/down, then lock it. Great review but as one commenter stated, factor in price and it becomes a much closer score.
Great review ! I noticed a lot of people are trying to decide between the Mavic Air and the Mavic 2 pro ......might be another good subject for evaluation ? Cheers !
I own the Mavic Air and although it's not as light as the mini, I still love the Mavic Air. It's perfect for what I need it for (hiking). Great Reviews!
i dream of a mavic mini with the specs of the mavic air......and the price tag of the mini dreams dreams lol Tom your the man great comparison i enjoyed every minute and HAPPY NEW YEAR from Paul / Belgium.
I would have to disagree with you on Spark's non-folding legs. I owned one before and found this feature to be beneficial in reducing the time required for setup/break down. When you are hiking, biking, skiing, or doing some other "on the go" activity, folding legs back and forth becomes annoying really quick on my MP. Spark is small as it is and having it ready to go on moment's notice is a huge plus. What really sucks about the spark is bad connectivity. Constantly losing connection between phone and remote, remote and drone, really made it hard to produce smooth footage and was the reason that I sold it. PS, common, in the real world the only people that put drones in their pockets are vloggers standing still in front of their DSLRs, and even that purely for demonstration purposes.
'Best' very much relies on personal preferences. For me, portability, price and not having to register the drone are way up on top of my list, so the Mavic Mini will get my vote when it comes to parting with my money.
Great video, but I think that the assessment was baised againt the spark. The spark seems better features when compared to the mini (with camera and battery life as exceptions).
I'm holding out to purchase, supposed to be a new DJI Mavic Air 2 the first quarter of this year. Biggest sell point to push me towards the Mavic Air is the active tracking, which mini doesn't have.
Bro can u tell me which camera ur using for ur shooting and what is editing software used for editing and what is the file type u maked from that editing software
You should have also compared the price and taken that into account as well, as the Mavic Air is literally twice as expensive as the Mavic Mini. That aside, this was the best comparison video I've seen of these drones.
Hello Tom, please did you had any issues related to connection with the Mavic Mini? I'm a little bit hesitant to buy it since we have CE and FCC versions. I live in Malta but I travel a lot to USA and Brazil where FCC it is used. The version that you tested it is the CE right? Do you think in my case it is better to buy the Mavic Air since it will switch automatically between FCC and CE? Thanks

Budget wise I'm tormented between the Spark and the Mavic Mini. However Fly more combo for Spark is the same price as the regular (non fly combo) Mavic Mini. How about you guys? What did you end up with?
Great video as usual, but I think you forgot an important point to compare too. The price. If you don't consider the price difference, is not fair. Of course you have a better camera, a better resolution, a better drone. But at pretty much double the price. I think you should consider in the final vote. If you have money there is no reason to buy a cheaper model from the same producer. Of course if is cheaper, there is a reason.
I prefer the spark than the mini.... the spark get me with the safety and the selfie and track mode.... if DJI release a mini + with spark great features, then it would be great
The 'range' comparison I'd really like to see is...altitude limit, both AGL (above ground level) and MSL (mean sea level). I know the mini has the lowest ceiling in specs, but I'd like to see a practical test (no one has done one yet). I will be flying my mini (if I buy one) in the mountains, mostly. Per specs, the mini will barely get to the base of my local ski area, and not anywhere near the top (making it fairly useless to me).
hi, I bought Spark fly more combo for half price of Mini and obstacle avoidance for beginner is very usable (like not crash to yourself when drone facing to you and you "logically" push your controller to forward, for return to home when lost direct sight etc.) Fly time is not brilliant at all. Sport mode showing how fast Spark can "brake" and IR obstacle avoidance working even in dark. Mini is great drone but for me Spark is winner due to actual price and feature (active tracking, hand gestures etc.). Absence of manual camera control in Mini is very very limiting.
Can you make a Video how to switch from Auto to Manual 5,8 Ghz on DJI Fly App?I am so confused and i want to switch to 5,8 Ghz becose the range in Citty is terrible when i fly on 2,4 ghz (Auto) Thnx, and greatinhs from Croatia.Hope that you can explain to us???
Just wondering if the stickers on your Mavic Mini tip the weight over 249g ? Was thinking about getting a Mini but it won't work with Crystalsky, DJI goggles , or the Litchi app, so not sure now.
Fly a drone towards the Rooks. Stick feathers to it and have it make predatory sounds out of a tiny but effective speaker that you spend months developing. Or Film where there are no crows...
they added manual settings in the last fimware update of the Mavic Mini, but i wish the update had more, like : 1. 4k (i can really notice the IQ difference between the drones and i just love the Air 4k IQ) , active tracking (even if it's not at the lvl of the Air, I mean at least that you can use it on the beach or other flat places) , 3 more flight modes , 4 live streaming, 5 raw photos(but I think they will neved add it on this drone). I think DJI can really add my wishlist via firmware update (especially with the first two points would make this drone a instant buy for me), the question is if they want to do it or not. There are camera makers that had cameras completly transformed after 3-4 firmware updates, see Fuji and Panasonic for example with cameras like : T2, T3, GH5 , G9 , who improved ALOT with firmare updates.
Unfortunately the spark is in basically tripod mode when the sensor is on. In general turn off the sensors so the spark will fly faster than a turtle. The MA is probably still the best all around drone. I have the MA, spark and M2z. Spark for travel and horseplay, MA for fun and commercial and M2z for real estate and commercial is my mode of operation.
Great work, detailed review, thx. But, I have a small issue : I was willing to buy this drone, but not anymore, after downloading the photo that you shared with us (thx again), the quality is very bad. Not worth it for a photographer. The one that you shared from the mavic pro 2 (20M) are way better and crisper. Can you double check the quality and confirm that its the quality that we will get if we buy the air 2 ? thank you Tom 👍
The first drone I bought was a QDC 3500 for $ 60 October 2018 it would work for me, they looked the same, I thought and I knew nothing about drones. After 2 months the granddaughter got it and play with it, there must be a better one and I found the perfect drone DJI Spark on the last day 2019. I have been happy with it for a long time but you discover more and more, when the DJI Mini came it was only one obvious choice but I have taken it easy this time and looked at tests and Tom's Tech Time comparison between Spark, mini and Mavic Air convinced me directly that Mavic Air should I have, does not matter that it is twice as expensive against the mini but after having seen this movie i am absolutely convinced that it is the best. However, I will wait a bit for rumors of a Mavic 2 or 3 coming soon ... but a Mavic Air will definitely be.!!!
I have both the Mini and the Spark. I love them both and will keep them both. But you didn't mention the huge price difference between the Air and Mini. The price is a big factor for a lot of people. And now the Air 2 and Mini 2 are out.
Good comparison, however the biggest benefit of the Mini is it is less than half the price of the Air. I have a Mavic Pro and having just received my Mini reckon for most uses that the pro is 'retired'.
I'm deciding between the air and mini. I can get a used Air for about £500 but a brand new mini for £460 both with fly more packs this is very tempting
Thanks for taking the time to go over every single aspect of the drones. I've seen so many "reviews" which just say one is better than the other with some general assumptions so I'm glad to find one so in depth.
Bravo Tom, the best review I have seen! Thanks
This video is awesome! Your review goes right along with the research I have been doing to determine which drone would best fit our needs for what we wish to do with it! Thank you so much and Good Morning from Texas!
One of the best comparison videos, I have ever seen. Keep up the great work.
Well done mate, great way to structure a review video!. Cheers!
Thank you man, this is a really good explanation of what is good and what is bad and what drone is you can use for.
Excellent review Tom! You helped me so much to choose one! Great word and video! Cheers from South-Africa!
Which did you chose? I'm still undecided!
Man this is my 1st video I’ve seen of yours. Let me just say .... excellent. Loved the video beginning to end
You have a new subscribe
You always make the best drone review and comparison. I really like the way you make the comparison. Your video is not annoying or boring. So enjoy.
My air will be delivered tomorrow! Mini needed a big brother.. great channel-keep up the good work!
Excellent review Tom 👍

Nice presentation of the information. Was impressed with the Air's photo and video quality.
Thank you for the video . Great comparison
Best sum up of Drones for starters! This video is awesome!
Excellent comparison Tom & Happy Thanksgiving 😊
Good Vid~ Nice comparison of three tiny guys~
This is what I exactly needed. Thanks.
Just got a Spark on eBay for $140; was originally going to wait and get a Mini for $200-250, but $140 was too good to pass up. I also really wanted active tracking (and object avoidance, even if it's primitive), so that's a dub.
Nice comparison! Thanks.
Very complete and therefore, excellent.
Great video Tom. Then the bird background sounds are hilarious. And they say drones are loud.
dunno if anyone cares but if you're bored like me atm then you can stream all of the new series on Instaflixxer. Been streaming with my brother during the lockdown =)
@Xavier Koda Yup, have been watching on Instaflixxer for since november myself :D
Daqui dos Açores um grande abraço e continua a fazer este magnifico trabalho que tens feito ate hoje, parabéns.
Miseu, can you please do a low light tutorial for the mavic mini because i love taking low light footage
Amazing Review! Subscribed.
Love watching these epizodes
Excellent for making a Choice when your new to all this..
Super in-depth review. Thanks!
Also, in the reviews it's quite hard to read the red words/letters. Maybe increase their width or change the background
Great comparisons
Love your videos Tom
Great video and great comparison 👍 Having both the mavic air and mini.... Don't get me wrong, I love the air but even though the specs are better on paper I find myself reaching for the mini more often.

A really good comparison…thank you.
Great review!
Woow amazing video tom, Love from. India
Excellent Video 📹 👏 👍
Great video!
Active track is now available with third party apps, works really well with the mini
Great video, good job
Well done, Tom.
Great review ! I noticed a lot of people are trying to decide between the Mavic Air and the Mavic 2 pro ......might be another good subject for evaluation ? Cheers !
Cool Video! 👌
Category 6: Cost/value for money?
Thanks bro for the comparison
you amazing brother 👍 i love your channel keep going

its actually better then the mini
i dream of a mavic mini with the specs of the mavic air......and the price tag of the mini dreams dreams lol Tom your the man great comparison i enjoyed every minute and HAPPY NEW YEAR from Paul / Belgium.
great video but you said the spark sensor is useless. I use the spark all the time and it has saved me so many times. I think yours has an issue.
I would have to disagree with you on Spark's non-folding legs. I owned one before and found this feature to be beneficial in reducing the time required for setup/break down. I love my Mavic Mini. I love it. I flew videoing flood waters recently and it was great.

fantastic review
Can you do a comparison betven Magic mini and fimi x8 please?
Really worth watching 👍
Great video, but I think that the assessment was baised againt the spark. The spark seems better features when compared to the mini (with camera and battery life as exceptions).

best comparision of mavic air/min i've seen! And i i've seen them much ... too much ;)
From philippines here . I love all your vids .
I love my mini, thanks for the comp video.
Bro can u tell me which camera ur using for ur shooting and what is editing software used for editing and what is the file type u maked from that editing software
Love the mavic air and your ending is actually very good I liked you ending style XD
I love the panorama shooting mode on the Spark.
Use it all the time for our channel.
It looks like the Mini loses that mode?
Maybe the best review so far. Thanks...And on 17:00, I can see there is no shadows on Spark's photo. No sun light, no colors.
You should have also compared the price and taken that into account as well, as the Mavic Air is literally twice as expensive as the Mavic Mini. That aside, this was the best comparison video I've seen of these drones.

Yes. One must decide whether the Air is twice the drone, does it produce twice as good video footage?
Can we use the Mavic Air's joystick on the Mavic mini controller ?
I prefer the spark than the mini.... the spark get me with the safety and the selfie and track mode.... if DJI release a mini + with spark great features, then it would be great
They have Now
You're a gem I'm going to get one soon so great timing...
What's one
Great video. Where did you find that shirt? I need one!
Love my lil Spark. It flies anywhere! Even in the woods!

I crashed Fimi x8 SE and now ordered Mavic Air.... Hope to gather more footage from it before crashing ;)
Thanks 🙏
Mavic Mini does have downward obstacle avoidance so it’s does have one useful type of O A.
Great comparison but i think, one factor you forgot to put into consideration, the prize of each drone :)
nice work as usual!
What phones are compatible with fly app ?

should i get amvic mini for weddings indoors in halls?
I think it should be ok because it's small and relatively quiet enough for a 10 minutes shoot.
nice!
